Dolley’s, the neighborhood market with the bright red awning at the top of Old Meadow Road, is a dream come true for Kate Ritzenberg. She had wanted to have a place of her own ever since she began working in restaurants and bakeries in high school. Those jobs, combined with her B.S. in Baking and Pastry and Food Service Management, have prepared her well for this venture.
The store’s location at Dolley Madison Apartments at Tysons is particularly meaningful for Kate. Her late grandfather, Saul Ritzenberg, had the vision to build these apartments in the 1960’s, when Tysons Corner was not much more than a crossroads with a gas station. In 2017, Kate implemented her own vision to create a new amenity for Dolley Madison by converting one of its apartments into Dolley’s, a cozy market with patio seating and over 1,000 items.
